I believed in him before and I still believe in him now. If there’s anyone “healthy” enough to be called a senator, that would be Dr. Martin Bautista, our Dr. Balikbayan.

Why?
I still believe that the “health” ills of this country could be better addressed with no less than a physician at the legislative forefront. Dr. Bautista‘s grasp of our health issues (like over population, health care reform) is unequaled. A fact that is borne out of him being a physician and having been exposed relentlessly to the social and health ills of this country vis a vis his training and yes, his stethoscope.

Some would ask, will Dr. Bautista be able to perform at par with other senators tackling other legislative issues in the senate? If you have seen Dr. Bautista talk or debate (on TV and on air) on other social issues like education, you would simply wonder at the clarity of his answers. A quality I can only find in a few of the candidates or even the current crop of senators. Clearly his intellectual capacity is unquestionable.

What about his lack of experience? Others will ask. Exactly the reason I’m voting for him. If the experience their seeking is the “corruption of minds” you see in trapos, I’d say good riddance experience! We need fresh untainted blood in the senate. Someone who’s unquestionable character and intellect is grounded on clear legislative vision.

Can Dr. Bautista deliver his promises when he gets elected in the senate? I tell you this. For us physicians, if there is one thing we cannot afford to compromise, that would be our “word’, our promise. Physicians do care about our patients and our integrity. And I believe Dr. Bautista adhere to this even more if he is in the senate.

That’s why I’m not only voting for him. I’m actively campaigning and urging every Filipino out there, to vote for Dr. Martin Bautista this May 2010 elections.
