  • The Blog Rounds Season 2 call for articles: Funny storyline

It’s tempting to start season two of TBR with some “serious” topics (like health care reform or politics) but realizing we all need a breather from our busy work, I though of something “light” and funny.

Not that I’m blind to the flak of our bleeding health care system, but I’ve gone to lengths of babbling and rabble rousing year in and year out I think we need something “refreshingly light” now. So in line with my likeness for Scrubs rather than House MD, I’ve chosen”our funniest medical experience” as our season opener.

Yes, dear TBR contributors. In two hundred or so words, you will write about your funniest medical experience, encounters or debacle. If you have the gall or appetite for nauseating laughter after any grandiose display of your missteps, maybe you can write about your monumental medical debacles that brought down your sanity for laughter. Your story, not what you heard, not what you read, nor someone else’s story, but your funny, real doctor or patient storyline.

Now you do have the license to kill us with laughter..

Of course, giving due respect to our beloved patients and avoiding the multitude medical malpractice that will come your clinic office, leave personal identifying information off your story. Surely you don’t want lawyers and judges laughing on our stories inside a courtroom.

Deadline for submitting your articles will be 6pm this Friday August 21,2009 . For guidelines on submitting  your articles to TBR please visit this site.

  • New Guides to Season Two of The Blog Rounds

A few new guidelines before we finally start Season Two of The Blog Rounds:

    1. The Blog Rounds edition host each week shall be chosen at least 3 days prior  to posting of the call of articles. Adherence to hosting schedule is very much encouraged.
    2. Call for articles for the upcoming TBR edition should be posted on the host blog by  6:00PM PST of Sunday
    3. Blog articles for carnival are due by 11:59 PM PST Friday the same week.
    4. The Blog Rounds round up of posts will posted on the host’s blog, 12NN Saturday the same week after the call for article post.
    5. Send the host- blogger for that edition (schedules are listed here) an email containing the title and url link to your post.
    6. One entry per blogger.
    7. Short recent posts between 200 and 500 words are preferred
    8. Posts are to be written for a general audience and may be medical or non medical, depending on the category or topic chosen by the host blogger.
    9. The host blogger has the sole authority and responsibility of choosing the topic, announcing them, receiving the contributions, proof reading it, and posting them as he/she deemed fit for his/her topic of choice.

In short, we’re reverting back to the old weekly blog rounds format, but with a shorter more concise posts. Also, the scheduling is designed with the work week, leisurely weekend in mind that approximates busy schedule. Of course there is always a leeway for the schedule especially during emergencies, but i highly encourage contributors and host to stick  our schedules which I will be posting soon.

I may have to change our TBR logo and pictures as the latter might present us with copyright issues. Any ideas contribution or logo drawing to this effect will be great appreciated.

  • The Blog Rounds Season One Ends!

What a way to end a season! Not with a bang I guess, but yeah how about patting ourselves in the back?!!

The Blog Rounds Season One produced thirty one (31) solid, blog carnival editions and plenty more additions to its blogger contributors. That’s a lot of read worthy, succulent and lively publication than any other department could produce in one year! It’s quite amazing how we were able to conglomerate and start this blogging carnival ourselves. What’s even more astounding is the quality of posts contributed and how the carnival were hosted– an achievement in itself and praiseworthy to say at least.

While most physicians are dubbed as  “boring” personalities, blogger contributors to TBR are among the most diverse, most interesting “cut” of doctors that ever hit the Philippine’s medical blogosphere. Some, like Manggy (No Special Effects) or Tess Termullo (Prudence MD) are among awardees of 2008 Phil Blog Awards. Doc Emer (Parallel Universes) one of medical blogging global pioneers, continues to gather accolades for his masterful writing. Em Dy (Pulse) and Doc Ness (Anestajah)  has made a remarkable flurry of interesting posts that would rival those of professional online writers!  Doc Ian Gomez a professor who writes mostly of his public health advocacies, is brazen with his thoughts. Of course no one could outwit the tacit Doc Mel, of the Philippine Daily Idiot. Who can says physicians are  boring writers after reading his posts? Or that of Doc Claire‘s journal into her daily life outside Philippines or that of Dr. Che as she tries to be the ? Surely, one will wonder how one can still blog  despite being both a physician and a mother, like that of Doc Joey, Pinay Megamom and Kitty Mama. Mega persons indeed.

If you think docs are boring music lover, read (say hear) Doc Gigi‘s foray into her Last Song Syndrome. Or peek into the lives of recently turned clinicians Ligaya, Louelle, and Brian and wonder how our “transformations’ work.Or not.

TBR got MDs turned new age politicians who blog. The likes of  Doc Martin Bautista and Doc Doray who have blogged their way (in full or partially) on their way to politics.

To top it all, we do not blog about medicine alone. In fact , some do not even blog about medicine at all, like Bubbleman who’s expertise is on technology and computers. I could go on with our list…

I’ve seen TBR bloggers who came and went on with their lives.  I’ve seen quite a number who blogged back with us . Still some, never left at all! I’ve seen others who blossomed into enviable crop of online writers, one wouldn’t be able to distinguish the quality of their work to that produce by their stethoscopes! In all, none has been relegated into oblivion.

That’s why we will be reviving TBR (as in ACLS) once again, not a re run of course but with a new season. And like any other enamored shows, it will be revitalized and energized.

So lets get on with The Blog Rounds Season Two!

  • The Blog Rounds one year and counting

Yes folks! We’re not infants anymore! Despite numerous delays and whatnot, The Blog Rounds‘ still here blogging and we are still blog hopping.

True to our real busy lives in the clinics, I forgot to commemorate its first year on the net. But that’s not the same as, err we are dead. Are we??

No we’re not. I’m not. And for as long as I have an internet connection TBR will continue to do its rounds in the blogosphere.

Thus, I’m jump starting the ‘commemoration” with what else?, commemorative edition round up of course! Details of this edition will be posted soon, so medical bloggers and TBR contributors, prepare your articles!

So who wants to host this edition???

Any suggestions on what to do with TBR’s first year anniversary??? leave your comments or suggestions here!

  • It’s all about taking care of my readers

That what’s this infrequent blog layout evolution is.

Better blog readability, faster page loading, clutter free navigation and a strip down menus for ease of browsing- all of these were from readers who clamored for an appealing and better Orthopedic Logbook.

So that all you have to do, my dear readers, is READ MY POSTS.

And I’ve got to concentrate more on my BLOG CONTENT.

Thanks to Kranthi of Bloggertricks, who bloggerized this original wordpress theme Falkner Press.
