No. Poverty is not an excuse for Filipinos succumbing to so called ”miracle drugs”– herbal medicines licensed as “food supplements” by BFAD, yet lay preposterous claims of healing so many things, from the unusual skin allergies to even cancer!

I wonder which government agency is supposed to look into this. Are the common Filipino left to the mercy of this scrupulous manufacturers?
Update: BFAD has issued an advisory (BA 99-04) on this matter, warning Filipinos on the dangers of this so called “food supplements”. So who is going to police this advisory? Has advertising in the Philippines really that bad? Where does PANA “truth in advertising” has gone to?
